I had a fabulous time in Portland over the weekend, and can’t wait to tell you about it. I’m spending today catching up on a few things, but hope to have some photos and a full report out to you later this week!
I spent a fair amount of time this past month working on my entry for the Project Selvage contest over at Spoonflower.
The theme for the contest was “Baby Boy,” which couldn’t have made me groan much louder. Working in a fabric shop I know that great baby boy fabrics are notoriously hard to come by, so I had a feeling they would be hard to design.
Here’s the design that I entered. I’ll be ecstatic if I make the top 75 designs that will be put up on the internet for voting, because, honestly, I’m pretty pleased to have completed a design I’m happy with by the deadline!
And here it is zoomed in so you can see the details better.
Frogs and snails and puppy dogs (though no tails!).
Even if it doesn’t make the cut for the competition, I’ll probably make this available for purchase at some point. And I’ll keep you posted on how the competition goes!

Great print! I love the snails and puppy dogs with print bodies. You did a fantastic job!
I can’t believe how many prints were entered in that contest … I was just happy to get mine finished and in before the deadline as well.
I hope your class went well .. can’t wait to hear the details of how it was.
I adore the print you designed! Perfect for the boy theme. I love the fun patterns you put into the body of each creature. And I love the colors too. Good for you for entering the contest! I was stumped by the category. Wondering if you did this in Illustrator or Photoshop? Well done! You deserve to make it in the top!
Oh I LOVE it! So creative. I love the plaid frog!
I love the little frogs – if I needed fabric to make a boy quilt I’d pick this! Good Luck!
Love LOVE the fabric. That is adorable!
Such nice work, Amy!!! Keep us posted!
I’m ordering some as soon as it becomes available!!!!!!!! That is totally adorable.
It is really cute, and I think you have a good chance of winning. Rita
I love the frogs! And lovely use of pattern – I think you found a really nice balance between a good “big picture” feel and great details. I just took a look at the finalists – and voted for like, 26! There were a lot of great entries.
