Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well. It seems to have gotten kind of busy around here lately and I’ve been unwittingly kept away from my blog! I actually worked a bunch last week, so that was part of it, but I’ve also just been trying to work on some marketing for the ol’ business and things like that.
Just so you know, I have finished the first of my knitted Christmas gifts! The details are on Ravelry (sans photo at the moment, but coming soon!). This is very exciting! As is the fact that I’ve cast on (300 stitches!) for the second project. It’s going to be perfect for taking on my trip to Portland this week–it’s all knit stitch!
I’m still working on the two quilts I’ve started. No photos yet. One may end up a pattern to sell, we’ll see. I ended up getting a bunch of fabric for the second one, but forgot to order at the same time the fabric I had run out of for #1 and needed to get. So, now I think I’ll just wait to see if I need anything else before ordering any more! Chances are that I’ll need to order some for the backing and/or binding anyhow. It’s so hard some days to get all those ducks in a row at one time!
Did I mention that my dad has started making another quilt?? I think this is totally awesome. Of course, he comes up with a design he likes (I have no idea what it is) and then attempts to use the machine to piece it instead of doing it by hand like he did the other three. And because his plan involves set-in seams, he ends up ditching the machine and doing it by hand anyhow. That’s just how he rolls! I’m dying to have a look at it. My mother seems skeptical about what she perceives as a lack of a color scheme, but I think it sounds exciting!
So, I went to San Francisco one day last week and while I was there, I took a stroll through the SF Design Center, which I had never been to. This place has 100 or something interior design showrooms all in one place, and they sell only to “the trade” (interior designers). The public is welcome to come in and look around all they want, they just can’t buy. I ran into a pair of pillows at the Shears & Window showroom that I thought some of you might like.
Throw pillows made out of vintage yo-yo quilts! They honestly looked extremely fragile, like the yo-yo’s might start falling apart if you touched them. I certainly wouldn’t want anyone leaning on these. And get a load of this price.
Yes, that says $375! Pretty amazing, huh?
Well, I have several posts that I want to share with you all, so I hope to be back here soon, but I have friends in town on Monday, I work on Wednesday all day, and on Thursday I leave for the Heather Ross fabric design class at PNCA in Portland!!! I have honestly been so busy that I haven’t really had time to think about it (I’ve only managed to consider whether I want my computer and whether I’ll need more yarn for the knitting project I want to take!). I’m really excited about it! And then I swear after that my summer should slow down a little. I hope. But it never seems to. After all, I’m scheduled to teach sewing classes at the Bobbin’s Nest every Sunday in August — I hope to see some of you there!
