First off, I have finished the hat and will have pictures for you soon, hopefully! I’ve even entered it as my first project on Ravelry (photo there when I have one-I’m amyehodge, if anyone wants to be friends!). I might have to go into the shop tomorrow to pick out some yarn and a new project. How can I possibly go on without a knitting project to work on????
A shout-out to my friend Katie who came by the Bobbin’s Nest today while I was working. Fun!

So, yesterday I made a skirt for my sister. She picked out the pattern and the fabric while she was here last week (the New Look pattern on the right above, view A). It went together pretty easily, though it was a little awkward doing the zipper after the sides seams. But with the yoke being attached in one piece, it was the best way. I thought the finish with the facing by the zipper turned out a bit weird at the end. If you just folded it back like it said, it was going to be in the way of the zipper. Strange.

The major problems with this are 1) it basically fits me, which means it’s almost certain to be too big for my sister (we only had time for measurements, no muslin, when she was here). And 2) while it might fit me, it isn’t particularly flattering. I really think it has something to do with how stiff the top of the garment with two layers of fabric and interfacing is compared to the lower part, which is one layer of pretty light-weight fabric. And I used the featherweight interfacing.

But it looks pretty cute (despite my not being able to hang it evenly on the hanger). I have one more item I promised to make her and then I’ll ship them off and we’ll see if it works out.

That skirt is so cute. I love the fabric. Lucky sister!
Good for you for finishing that hat already! So cool!
I love the new skirt! Cute fabric and cute cut. So fun that I could see wearing this to work in summer. I am always drawn to this style of skirts, which kinda reminds me of a denim skirt style.
