I finished my second knitted washcloth. In like, a year and a half. But I think I was starting to get the hang of things a bit more by the end of this one, so I think (I think!) I’m ready to try a scarf. I think.
I’ll definitely be getting suggestions from the knitting folks at the Bobbin’s Nest on a good project and a good yarn to use. I’d love your suggestions as well! The variegated yarn was great for this project because as a beginner it made it easier to see what was going on. But definitely a solid color for the next project if it’s something I’m going to wear.

(FYI – this hook was stuck on the refrigerator when we moved in and I have never used it for anything. I can’t figure out why it was put there, but it made a nice photo spot!)

Yaaaay! I’m glad you decided to go on with the knitting. I would say yarn on the chunkier side and maybe more of a neckwarmer… I’ve only finished one scarf in my life, last January, and I don’t even remember when I started, I think I wasn’t even married at the time! It just gets really tedious after a while.
Ooops. I didn’t mean to sound discouraging. Sorry. I’m your biggest knitting fan! Definitely go for it.
Nice washcloth! A freind gave me a set of those when my baby was born, and they have lasted forever! Good luck on stitchin’ up your next project.
A great beginning project! I’ve started one before doing crochet, still not done! I can’t wait to see your scarf, great inspiration, knitting is on my list of ‘want to learn’. Take care, Cheryl
Wow, good for you! That is quite an accomplishment! A scarf would be a great next project to progress to.
My grandma (who is not an OLD LADY, I swear) hangs her pot holders and kitchen towels on hooks on the side of her fridge. So your dish cloth looks perfect there to my eyes!
The dish cloth looks great. I’m so glad that you’re finally starting to feel more comfortable with it.
I definitely wouldn’t recommend doing a scarf next…they are so long and so boring (and so long!).
A nice, fun next project could be a hat or a cowl (knit in the round). Wool is much easier to work with than cotton because it is stretchier and has more give.
Here’s a couple great beginner patterns:

Oh, I’m so glad you tried again! I was at a yarn store the other day, and I thought to myself “if Amy gets into knitting, she would love this place.” Check it out next time you’re in Campbell. http://www.greenplanetyarn.com/
