Today for our shop-hop we’ll be checking out The Quilters’ Nest in San Jose, CA.
**Please note that I didn’t do a thorough inventory of each of these stores, so if I say I didn’t see something, it doesn’t mean they definitely didn’t have it, I just didn’t see it.
Web site: none, but here’s the Yelp page.
Location: 1375 Blossom Hill Rd, San Jose, inside Princeton Plaza.
I had a very hard time finding this the first time, so here are a few shots to help you out if you want to try to find it.
First, don’t look for a sign for the shop from the road. You won’t find one. Instead, look for this:

The day I was there they had a sidewalk sign out, though I don’t remember that being out when I was there previously. Here’s a shot from next to the sign standing underneath the entry in the photo above. The quilt shop is straight back at the end of this walkway. You can just make out the glowing “OPEN” sign.

Once you get back there, it’s kinda like a normal mall area.

Basic Fabrics: This shop appears to carry a small-ish selection of quilting cottons in traditional patterns, styles, and colors. They had some Asian fabrics, as well as some kids, novelty, and holiday patterns available.

Designer Fabrics: I did not see any immediately obvious designer fabrics in this shop.
Other Types of Fabrics: I did not see any minkee or flannel.
Sales Section: I did not see a section of sales fabrics.
Classroom: Classroom space for maybe 10 or so.

Batting and Notions: A small selection of notions, including the new Accuquilt Go! equipment.

Batting selection consisted of some packaged batting on the shelves.

Machines: This shop does not sell sewing machines.
Other Items: This shop has some books and patterns available as well, most of them of the more traditional type, which goes along with the fabric in the shop.

I have gone to this store in the past. I keep hoping that they have expanded or have gotten new fabrics in or added more fabrics. Never happens. Each visit has been a disappointment. The shop has gone through a couple of ownership changes over the years with no improvement. There are some quilt stores that I feel inspired just walking into. Not this store. It’s too small, not enough variety of fabric, book selection is so-so and it’s a boring store. However, my sister really likes it! I know they do have a good selection of batiks; not my thing.
