When we were in Vietnam last January, we purchased two works at the Hong Ngoc Fine Arts Company, which is apparently online now — I had no idea! The main purpose of this company is “to provide vocational trainings and lifetime profession placements for people with disability.” They produce a lot of fine quality art that really bowled us over. Here’s what we came home with. (Each of these is approximately 15 inches by 20 inches.)

We have had multiple people mistake the boat piece for a photograph and the village scene for a painting, when, in fact, both of these are hand embroidered.

I really love these!

Amy- those are truly beautiful works of art.
Amazing! I can’t believe these are embroidered! I love art like this. I bet you will treasure these purchases forever.
Wow these are amazing. Purchasing art on a trip is such a wonderful idea.
I still can’t believe that the one with the boat isn’t a photograph! Amazing. The fact that it benefits people who have disabilities is just a bonus! (As the mother of a 10 year old who has cerebral palsy I am greatful for any support that people who have disabilities receive anywhere in the world. I know how difficult it can be to advocate for my son here in the US, I can only imagine that it is at least as difficult in other places in to world.)
Absolutely amazing work — and I did think they were a photograph & a painting. The technique is so unusual — what a wonderful find — and thanks for the link!
Wow…I totally thought they were a photo and a painting. Those are absolutely stunning!
Those are so amazing! I was thinking the same thing, a photo and a painting!
