So, I was trying to organize my sewing stuff recently and decided it was time to figure out something to make with at least one of those tablecloths from Anthropologie that I’ve had lying around for a while now. After digging around I realized I had just enough of some leftover batting that I didn’t like but hated to throw out, as well as the perfect backing in the form of one of those bolts of solids I got way back when in Pacifica. And in one of the colors I couldn’t figure out what else I would do with. Excellent!

As a bonus, I determined the end product would make a perfect Christmas gift for a particular person. Excellent! (Did I say that already?)

I free motion quilted this using the flowers on the tablecloth as my pattern, but intentionally making it not match up perfectly. I really like how that turned out.

The tablecloth came with this great bright green crocheted trim. I actually removed it to make it easier to assemble and trim the rest of the quilt to the right sizes. Then I turned under the edges and reinserted the trim to finish the edges instead of doing regular binding.

One more gift complete AND several things removed from my stash at the same time. Excellent!

I love this quilt!
This truly is excellent! I love the way you used the flowers for the quilting design, and how you reattached that crochet trim. This is going to make a great gift!
Wow….i love that and the crochet trim looks amazing!
That’s beautiful… and the trim is perfect!
What a great idea! I think that I have a vintage tablecloth that I can’t decide what to do with it. This is an excellent idea, and the quilting idea would work great!
You’re always thinking! Yea for us!
Such a great end result! Love this.
This is really cute! I like how you kept the yellow lace in tact and your flower quilting really enhances the look of the pattern.
funny – i have a few of placemats of this same pattern in my stash that i have been wondering what to do with. man i should have picked up the tablecloth instead of the placemats!
this is so beautiful and creative. what a great idea. your recipient is one lucky person
I love this! The crochet trim really tops it. Lovely blog btw. I only just found it.
o man i love this!! it shows you don’t necessarily need to piece a quilt for it to be eyecatching –so in love with the lace instead of binding!! http://erinlebeau.blogspot.com/
That is so cute! I love it! I just got a sewing machine and I made some pillows. I used to sew a long time a go, but it has been a while. I would love to learn to make something like this. It looks fairly simple.
