I recently discovered a fabulous blog — 365 Days of Free Motion Quilting. That’s right. 365 days.
Every day, Leah posts a new free motion quilting design, and she is collecting them all together in a great gallery. Each design includes information on inspiration for the design, design type, difficulty level, directional texture, and suggestions for use. Many of them also have accompanying videos so you can see exactly how to make these. This is a great site for ideas and to learn more about free motion quilting!
Since I need permission to post any of her images, and I can’t stand not to post some kind of image, here’s a shot of the free motion quilting on my Real McCoy quilt.

I’ve always wanted to try that pattern! But I do believe I need to hunt down some gloves first cos I’m pretty certain I wouldn’t have enough grip! And 365 patterns is A LOT!
Beautiful quilting and I love that pattern — at first I was thinking maybe I’d try it in hand quilting, but I just don’t think it would look right. I’ve never tried free motion quilting — actually I haven’t done all that much machine quilting — so I’m a little intimidated by the idea. Maybe I’ll try it on a doll quilt.
What a great tip! That gallery of designs is amazing. Each one looks so elaborate and fancy, cool enough to just do a whole cloth or on solids.
awesome sight! that was brilliant!
That’s great! I like what you did! I need to get over and check out her site, thanks so much for the info!
