My first attempt at embroidery, and a few more gifts completed for Christmas!

I’ve done some cross-stitching in the past, and a sampler that I bought on our honeymoon at Colonial Williamsburg, but I’ve never done anything where I had to choose the stitches and the colors and how many strands of floss to use. I definitely learned some things along the way!
If you haven’t recognized these yet, it’s an iron-on transfer from Sublime Stitching. The plain white toweling yardage is from the trip to Stone Mountain and Daughter in Berkeley, CA.

A few random things.
1. It looks like my retraining to join the modern world of typography is complete. I no longer have to go back and delete a space after every period. That didn’t take too long!
2. The post about color values seems to have gone over pretty well, so I’m thinking about expanding that into a series if I can get organized. Let me know if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see covered there.
3. I hope everyone is having a great Labor Day Weekend!

These are sooooo cute! I’d like to do more embroidery and I’ve spied a few things in the past I’d like to attempt from Sublime Stitching.
Those towels are so adorable. What a great idea for a gift. I haven’t done any embroidery in many years. I always love looking at the doodle-style embroidery in that book.
love the dishtowels! My embroidery stitches never come out so well. Great job!
I love those! Great gift ideas!
These are adorable! I have to pull out my tea towel with these designs and display them in my kitchen…sometimes my creations get stuck in the linen closet for too long
I can hardly believe this is your first attempt — your stitching is perfect, the colors are bright and cheery, and I love the cute designs and the nice weave on the towels. You’re off to a very nice start.
Too cute! I’m off to check Sublime now.
