And the rest of the pants too! The pants are finished!

I went all crazy and used a very contrasty topstitching (a light green — on dark brown!). I’m so reckless like that. The topstitching could have looked awful and ruined the pants. Really. It totally could have.

The fabric is a little heavier than I had wanted, but you just don’t have the choices out there that you do when you go shopping for pants at the mall. And they are fitting a bit more loosely than muslin #3, but that’s okay. I have belts. ![]()

I added a little bit of ribbon below the left front pocket, just for fun.

And, of course, an amyalamode label. ![]()

(Oh — and it really doesn’t pull like that at the bottom of the fly where it’s tacked down. I have no clue why it looks like that in the picture!)
Woo hoo!!! And now I have a pattern I can use to make pants whenever I like! Awesome!

your pants look awesome! congrats … thanks for talking us thru all the muslins… helps to know it takes planning and ‘trail and error’ to get a perfect pattern.
yours look great and it shows your skill with that topstiching…
!!
Very nice! You are very brave to use such a contrasting thread for the topstitching! It looks great~
Congratulations! I actually really enjoy making pants–I just don’t wear pants a whole lots. (I sure hope that doesn’t sound like I go around half dressed–I wear a lot of skirts.) I really like the green top-stitching, it makes them look very contemporary and distinctive.
Wow, these pants are amazing! I love them! And they look so fabulous on you. I especially love the contrast thread, the cargo pockets, and the cool details you added. Plus, they look so comfy. This has been really fun to read about your process for perfecting a pair of pants.
I love how they came out! And I think that you deserve a medal for bravery, stitching with contrasting thread! They look great on you, congratulations!
