Love Beads at Last!

I have not come down off my post-Denyse sewing high yet. This Love Beads quilt is finally finished!!

This is my first queen-sized quilt (and last? ugh!). Final size was 85″ x 95″. It’s going on a full-size bed, but also fits our queen-sized bed nicely. This was the best shot I could get of the entire thing — the missing bottom corners are just more of the same.

I am so happy that I made the decision to just pick some wilder colors that weren’t in the curtains I had at all, in order to liven this up a bit. I can’t imagine how dull this would be without the blues and that awesome orange!

And the way the colors of the backing and the binding work together gives me little warm fuzzies.

I ended up quilting the background in horizontal lines — but not straight — in a yellow color that would blend in for the most part. The beads are quilted in free motion concentric circles in a bright blue thread. Love that too!

I have recently been reviewing the massive List, which I won’t link to here because there is no point. After the completion of the dress and this quilt and a serious perusal of the list, I have declared it pretty much done. I would still like to try out making muslins from the Sew U book, from which I have made exactly nothing at this point, and to copy a pair of pants I have that are super comfortable and great for traveling. But I am considering my plate cleared so that I can move on to new and better things. Like more improvisational quilting! I have a six-week break (in a couple of weeks) before the fall quarter starts September 21, during which I’ll be taking Adobe InDesign and a Web Site Design class. I’d love to get in a bunch more sewing before classes start up again then!
