You Can Sew!

Woo hoo!!!

The final project for my Flash class is complete. It’s a mini web site for beginning sewers. Don’t anyone get too excited out there. The point of this was to demonstrate proficiency at certain aspects of Flash, not to build a comprehensive and useful web site. This will be obvious when you see the stitch glossary only has four stitches in it, etc. :)

Anyhoo, here’s a screen shot of the home page!

If you click on the screen shot it will take you to the site, so you can test it out for yourself. There is an animated opening (required for the project), but it’s not very long. Also, just a warning that there is some sound associated with the stitch glossary. I really dislike gratuitous sound on web sites, but, again, we were required to add sound somewhere to prove that we could. Just a warning for those of you in coffee shops or whatever. :)

If you have a slow connection, you should see a little presser foot making stitches and telling you what % of the info has been downloaded.

Oh, and if you find any problems with it, I would appreciate it if you would let me know, since I haven’t turned this in yet (due Monday). Thanks bunches and I hope you have some fun playing with this!

  • Very Cool, i love the loading animation.. You have done a good job, is the font supposed to be Time New Roman? as the font is getting chopped off a bit in the menu rollovers (the top of the words “pattern symbols”), if it is suppose to be something else maybe you haven’t published it with the fonts embeded?

I love the know your machine with the rollovers, and the animations in the stitches section. It is a nice clean layout that can easily be added to, perfect for beginner sewers! A great idea!

  • Love the sewing machine noise. It certainly got some attention in my household.

  • Very cool! I love the presser foot progress bar. And the stylized drawings are so cute

Loved the little sewing foot, made it repeat over and over! No problems, loaded quickly, easily navigated. Good luck.

Wow, that is so cool! I can’t believe how cool that is. How wonderful that you created that. I didn’t have any problems with any part, so I think you are good to go. Good luck when turning it in!

I love the stiches, with the little foot! And my daughter thought the noise was pretty funny (guess I should sew with her awake more often). Very impressed.
