Thanks so much for all the wonderful birthday wishes! You all are so great! It really was a lovely day, and I plan to have many more like it in the future. ![]()
Before I launch into the things I wanted to post about today, I just wanted to say that this afternoon I found myself doing dishes, laundry, baking, and sewing all at the same time (thanks to modern conveniences like the washing machine and dishwasher). I’m a domestic goddess. Who knew? ![]()

So, last Friday I wrote about wanting to go to Portland for Denyse Schmidt’s improvisational patchwork class. Saturday morning I logged on to the internet and signed up. After registering I got a message saying I would receive an e-mail in 2 or 3 days confirming whether I was officially registered or not (necessary, I guess, since they take registrations via phone, internet, and regular ol’ mail). Well, Wednesday I got the notice — I’m #2 on the wait list. Which isn’t bad, but isn’t good. I need 3 weeks’ notice to book the free plane ticket. So, I’m not optimistic, but I now know that I will not delay even one minute if a chance like this comes up again. There is still a remote possibility that I’ll get to go, but I won’t be counting on it (or making alternate plans for that weekend either — I’m just sayin’).
Three weeks left of class in the spring quarter, and here’s what it looks like around here:

That’s the start of the final projects for my color class — I have to do five!!! Last week for graphic design we had to create three business cards for fictitious folks (the businesses and people are all completely fake). Since I know how much you all love looking at my homework… (I do figure it beats no pictures at all on a post!)

I’m starting on the final project for my Flash class, which will be an interactive sewing site! Don’t get too excited — it will be way scaled back (like a glossary with maybe 5 terms, etc.). I’ll have to post it up to the web somewhere, so maybe I’ll even post a link to it here so you can all have a look.
And I have just completed the baby quilt I have been hand quilting for AGES. Of course, we have had very unusual June weather with overcast skies that are threatening to rain (what’s up with that???). So, terrible light for photographs. But I am eager to post about that project as soon as possible, so stay tuned to see actual sewing on this blog!

I can’t believe your classes are almost over! It’s been fun seeing your projects along the way. And these business cards turned out very cool! Your final project sounds really fun – can’t wait to see that.
I’m hoping that you’ll still be able to get in even though you’re on the wait list!
Your business cards for class look great!
I’m totally crossing my fingers for you!
