Pattern Review is Up at Sew, Mama, Sew!

I tried to get this post out this morning but I have not been able to access Sew, Mama, Sew! all day for some reason (still can’t!), so it took me a while to figure out what the links were!

Socialite Dress with Wide Belt

Woo hoo! My pattern review is up at Sew, Mama, Sew!! I reviewed Anna Maria Horner’s Socialite Dress and I think it turned out really cute! This was trickier than it looked, so if you’re interested in making it, check out the review.

Also, thanks to everyone who has been chiming in about the giveaway. It’s been very helpful! Oh — and it’s not for the SEWN giveaway. Or the next Sew, Mama, Sew! giveaway. I am *way* too swamped right now to be able to participate in either of those, as much as I would like to. I have to plan a lot farther in advance than that, especially when I don’t have a very big fabric stash, so I have to actually acquire or make anything I want to giveaway. But there will definitely be a giveaway, so stay tuned!

Your dress turned out great! Thanks for the review. You’ve inspired me!

  • What great fabric choices! I love that you gave different customization options – my fave is the first one, with the contrasting belt.

And how fun to have a review up! You’re always inspirational with your projects and ideas.

  • 2nd comment, haha – I realized that you mentioned hand-sewing the yoke facings on this pattern. Do you have any tips? I have a shirt I’m making that has yoke facings that look fine up until the point where I started sewing the back facing down… I obviously did not keep it even, because it’s pulling on the back of the shirt in all sorts of unwanted ways. Did you sew into the seam between the front/outside of the yoke and the main piece? Did you just start at one end and work your way to the other, or tack it down anywhere? I’m not an experienced sewer, and that applies double for hand-sewing!

  • Wow. That top photo looks fantastic! I really like how the wide belt makes the dress look super finished and RTW. Without the belt the dress is baggy. You should always wear the snazzy belt to show off your cute little waist! 🙂
