Well, sorta, but a lot more expensive!



The spring quarter starts on Monday and I have signed up for my very first art class EVER. Really. I can’t recall ever having art. We did have these 6-week courses in middle school on different topics, and I seem to recall in one of those having to do some drawing. But I always got terrible grades on the assignments because we were never taught HOW to draw, we were just told to draw something, like the building next door. And because I didn’t know how, mine were terrible, hence the yucky grades. And my life-long assumption that art classes were for people who could already do art.

But I will be taking an art class on Color. That doesn’t sound too scary, does it? And I was shocked to see that there is no text book, but instead a required list of things like scissors, glue, magazines to cut up for collages (really?? seriously??), fancy drawing paper, paints and paint brushes, and that expensive Color-Aid paper, which is just a stack of 314 different solid colors. I’m hoping that somehow the instructor will be able to tell me how to HOLD a paint brush. Over the internet. ‘Cause this is an online class. Oh — and my text book for the graphic design class I’m taking came the other day as well and looks very cool! (Actually the black sketch book above is for the graphic design class as well.)

I may be completely nuts attempting this, but I’m actually really excited about it!
