It’s hard to believe that I have not yet shared all of my Great Grandmother’s quilts with you, but there are still four more to go! Today’s quilt is a classic Lone Star pattern in some great vibrant solid colors. There is not a single patterned fabric to be found in this quilt, and yet there is nothing dull about it at all. As always, this quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted, most likely by my Great Grandma Roloff. I really love this one (but I freely admit that I say that about all of them!)

The border is purple with diamonds down two sides. The backing is a plain muslin (I think). Unfortunately, I didn’t get good enough pictures to see what the quilting in the borders looks like. The binding is the same purple as the border, so could actually be folded over to the back instead of being a separate binding. Many of the other quilts I have shown you used the backing as self-binding. Looks like outside the multi-colored star portion the quilting is a grid on point.

The quilting in the interior squares is a classic double ring of feathers (I think that’s what you would call those). Either way, it’s a classic pattern!
The quilting on the star pattern is lines just inside the seams. If you click on the photos you can see the larger sizes at Flickr.

I find this pattern kind of mesmerizing!

What a great quilt. And I totally love the name as I’m from Texas, The Lone Star state:)
I love these star patterns and the colors in this reminds me of sherbet. You definitely have one talented quilting family!
This is not a Lone Star quilt, that would be a name for the center star only. This is a Broken Star.
