So, it’s been pretty busy around here, but I don’t have any more completed projects to show you.
I have been working on The List. I had to make an addition that I have been working on furiously, along with the quilting on the Amsterdam quilt. My brother is coming to stay for several days, so the “sewing room” will have to be converted back to the “guest room” and I will have to occupy myself (when there is time) with projects that don’t require the sewing machine, like quilt binding, cross-stitch, knitting, and/or practicing hand quilting for my class (I am definitely improving!).
In the meantime, I used an Amazon gift certificate to order some more quilting and sewing books, including The Modern Quilt Workshop, which I have been completely devouring. I want to make (almost) everything in this book. I love it. I have had in mind for a long time to make a quilt inspired by the McCoy pot collection you see in my blog banner. I even picked up a bunch of solid bolts a while ago with this specifically in mind. Now I’m thinking that the Plain Spoken quilt would be great for this. THEN (can you tell my brain is kind of everywhere these days?) I remembered that Daisy Janie has been doing this fun Photoshop thing where she pulls the colors out from photos to make color palettes (see the Color Inspiration sidebar on the left of her blog), so I decided to do that with the photo of the McCoy pots.
Voila!

Loving this. Oh, and I think the Love Beads quilt in Modern Quilt Workshop may be the perfect thing for the bed in the guest room to go with the Amy Butler curtains (except in coodinating colors). Whatta ya think??

My curtains, and a fabulous Love Beads quilt from Tea Couture.
Maybe I’ll actually get some fun photos over the next few days from sight-seeing in the Bay Area to post. It was GORGEOUS outside earlier today, and I’m hoping for more of the same!

Cute color swatches!!! Love the pots!
I love the pots as you know and that love bead quilt also. cheers.
I really need to get Photoshop! That looks like a fun feature. I have always loved your McCoy pots too – what fun to be able to pull out the colors like that.
That palette tool is such a cool feature!
I think the love beads quilt would look great with your guest room curtains. I have been wanting to make the redwork quilt from that book for ages…maybe this year is the year
Hey I love your Love Beads quilt! I am making one, too. My background is Kona Black, and the beads are all batiks is various greens and browns. I’m going to hang it on a white hallway wall, next to some Ansel Adams photos. The colors are to tie in with my green DR/Kitchen that flows into a chocolate brown wall (just one) in my LR foyer. I’ve always done traditional quilts (blocks and borders), so I’m excited about delving into a more artistic area.
Thanks again for posting the pic.
