That’s a bit of a mouthful for a title, eh? This is the last of my father’s quilts, but it’s the first one he made. It’s a variation on the Grandma’s Garden pattern. This quilt is all hand pieced and hand quilted. And check out the color combinations here – I am never that bold!

That one little red piece in the middle with the yellow flowers makes me smile.

The backing is solid muslin and is wrapped around the front to create a self-binding, just like he did for his other two quilts. He quilted inside each of the little hexagons and then did a grid on the border.

And a little special pattern for the corner blocks.

Way to go on those tiny stitches, Dad! I’ve been practicing my hand quilting and I gotta say it takes a bit of finesse!

Wow, I can’t believe how much work was put into this one too! I love the quilting designs. My quilting stitches are never that tiny, but I suppose I could practice more. Your dad had a lot of practice with all these beautiful quilts!
Wow! This is incredible! It must have taken him so long to make. All of the stitching in the hexagons just blow my mind. I really love this and if your dad has made anymore hexagon quilts, I might just have to get started on my own grandma’s garden quilt
Hi- am in middle of working on GFG now.. loved the colors in your Dad’s and the hand-stitching. This is added incentive to keep on making those hexagons! A gorgeous quilt, thanks for sharing!
