Oh. My. Gosh. This one is just so dang cute!

This is a hand pieced and hand quilted baby quilt made by my Great Grandma Roloff. This is a basic Dresden Plate pattern with smooth edges for each plate (note: someone posted on the flickr photo to indicate that these are “Wagon Wheels”). Most of the plates have a particular pattern to them, but some, especially in the bottom row, are completely random. There are no borders. The quilt is backed with solid white and bound in a lighter shade of pink. The quilting is concentric circles.
We have no idea what baby this was for.
I’m just going to let you enjoy the close-up views without my chatter. I encourage you to click on the photos to go over to Flickr and see the large sizes where you can really see the details on the fabrics. I just can’t say enough about how adorable I think this one is! All these tiny little plates!

this is such a fabulous quilt. I don’t like the Dresden Plates pattern at all – this is so much more fun with the wheels.
Amazing! I love it!
This is both delicate and quirky, at the same time! So fresh and spontaneous-looking. You’re lucky to have it!
Oh, my! I wandered over to your blog because you’re an Amy too and fell into a treasure trove of quilty goodness! I for one and thrilled you’re sharing your family quilts with us! This one is my fave so far…I have to go see more previous installments. Lovely stuff!
I love this quilt. What size are the wheels? The colors are just perfect.
