This quilt was made by Verna Weber of Altenburg, Missouri in 1997. She was my Grandmother.

My Grandmother made each of her 11 grandchildren a quilt for her wedding gifts to them. She let us each pick what we wanted. Some of my cousins requested certain patterns or colors, but I just picked from among some things she already had in progress. And I really love this one.

Check out those awesome prairie points! We’ve had this quilt for over 11 years now (time does fly!) and we used it daily on our bed until I started to worry about wearing it out. But every time I look at it I see new cute fabrics I had never seen before.

This quilt is all hand quilted and parts of it are hand pieced. From what I can tell it looks like she pieced most of the individual blocks by hand, and then used the machine to sew the blocks together. Or at least it seems to mostly follow that pattern. Whatever she felt like that day, probably! Also, I don’t know if this pattern has a name, but I suspect that it does. If any of you know what the pattern name is, I’d love to know it! Thanks!

You made a great choice! It’s a beautiful quilt…what a treasure.
I agree. My great-grandmother made me a quilt I’ve passed on to my daughter after a little patch-up from some delightful Amish women I know.
I always noticed new bits every time I looked at it. Quilters of 50 years ago certainly seemed to use all their scraps to great advantage! Your border is fabulous.
What a wonderful gift! I love all of the patchwork fabric in it. Such a great treasure!

I know this is an older post that I’m commenting on but wanted to let you know this quilt pattern is an 8 pointed star commonly called a LeMoyne Star.
