Okay, now, don’t anyone go freaking out on me or anything but remember this fabric that I just bought and blogged about on Monday?

Dudes! I have totally already turned this into a skirt!

Get out!
This is the A-line skirt from the Amy Butler Barcelona skirt pattern. (Excuse the bad evening light, but it’s what we had.) I totally love it, and have I mentioned that invisible zippers rock? I even got to use my invisible zipper foot for the first time. And my edging foot, to overcast the seams. Rockin’! I even used my 1/4-inch piecing foot with the guide to do the top stitching and my top stitching has never looked so straight.

Now I’m having wild fantasies about the layered version and the apron overlay. But I should really get real. It’s a complete miracle that I managed to get this made AND get my homework that is due while I am on the road done early AND get packed. I think I mentioned that I am going Sunday-Thursday to Boston (well, Beverly, a bit less glamorous, though I still get to suffer the trauma that is Logan Airport). Then I’ll be in Boise Friday to Sunday, with a brief stop at home and a 3-hour sewing class on Thursday night (that should be some kind of crazy fun — hope I’m not so jet lagged that I sew through a finger or something….).
Anyhoo.
I do have a good chunk of fabric left from this (is it just me or do those Amy Butler patterns have generous yardage requirements?). I could make all kinds more fun stuff. If the pattern repeat on the fabric weren’t so big I’d consider using it for one of these. I’ll have to make it from something else, but I HAVE to have one. I finally got jealous of all the men at the conferences I go to and sewed interior pockets into my suit jackets so I’d have somewhere for my business cards. But this little case is sick nasty.

This skirt is so cute. That fabric is so pretty.
I think that I may have spoke to you about this pattern at Eddies when you were thinking about buying it. The skirt looks great.
