I have been wanting to try out the iron-on vinyl lately, and I thought a little zippered pouch to go along with the Weekender Bag I made my sister would be the perfect opportunity.

Of course, it coordinates with the bag. I used the iron-on vinyl on the lining fabric to create a make-up or toiletries-friendly bag that would be a little liquid-resistent. It’s super easy — you just iron the vinyl onto the fabric, then go about you business. Though, after turning this whole thing right-side out at the last step all the vinyl ended up more crinkly than I would have liked. But it had to get bunched up a bit to go through the opening I had left. C’ est la vie.

I had intended to make a boxed bottom on this, but inadvertently sewed the corners up the wrong way. And I had trimmed the fabric before realizing that I had done it wrong (but I consciously made the decision to cut, knowing full well that I wasn’t sure I had done it right). So now it just looks like I meant to make it into a lopsided pseudo-hexagon. I’m cool with that. That’s what happens when work has left you in a cranky, sullen mood and you don’t feel like looking at any directions of any kind and you just slap it all together without a smidge of measuring or anything. It’s rare for me to approach a project this way (usually I’m all about maximum research and preparedness!), but I knew it was the only way to get myself to do something besides mope around last night. So, there it is. And I’m happy with it.

She hopefully will be too. And I swear I’m done now making gifts for my sister!
