The last two Tuesday nights I have attended a Free Motion Quilting class. Talk about fun!! But I have to say that at about 9pm I start really having trouble focusing. I get very sleepy…… And I clearly have a little different approach than most of the other people in the class. They all seemed busy trying to do a really good job at everything, while I was more about, “Hey! That was fun now let’s try something else!” ![]()
(Sorry about the poor quality on some of these photos. Hard to get decent shots when you work really long hours and hardly see the light of day. But I digress.)
Basic stippling, hearts, stars, and flowers. Some bubbles and “l”‘s and “e”‘s up in the top left corner.

Horizontal, vertical, and slanted lines (not my favorite thing to do!). Round and square cobblestones, bricks, some swirly things, and cattails on the bottom. Those were fun!

One of the big patterns in the middle we traced and then tried to follow the pattern (right!), and the other we stitched through the paper and then tore the paper away. The rest is warming up the second night, followed by simple feathers

More feathers.

My favorite little feathery bit. Not bad!

A little bobbin work with some really thick metallic “yarn.”

Trapunto! (Must have been Christmas in July!)

Wow you did good. I wish they had classes like that here!
I think I may try to brave it myself, as I think it would be fun and I like to quilt once in awhile.
These designs and doodles are so cool! I definitely need to sit down and play with my machine to try out some new designs!
Wow, if this was your first time with free motion quilting, I’d never know it. It turned out really well. I just learned, and my free motion still needs some work.
