I’m finally getting to post about something I’ve actually made! I know you were all were starting to think that all I do is shop for toys necessary tools and accessories.

This quilt is the Hop, Skip, & a Jump pattern from the Denyse Schmidt Quilts book. The red fabrics were all picked up from the nice lady who was destashing, and are set off by a nice crisp solid white. It measures 50.5 by 56.5 inches after adding an extra column — a good size for curling up under to watch a movie, in my humble opinion (the pattern size was a bit too small for me). I used bamboo batting for this, which is a very low loft and is actually 50% bamboo and 50% organic cotton. The quilting is free motion in a lazy eight sort of loop pattern — all done on my new machine before I even had the class on how to use the machine, not to mention the free motion class I am taking right now. With everything I’ve been learning (like that quilting needles exist!) I expect the next one to be much better!

The back is mostly one print with some other bits to make up the difference. Binding is just a solid red (also from the destashing extravaganza). I am really happy with this and can hardly wait to make some more!

You might be asking yourself, “What happened to quilts #1 and #2?” Well, they were made and given away during the last 6 months or so, but perhaps I’ll dig up a photo or two of them and post something about them here as well, just for the record.
